Images on your ad, just like the front line of cars in your yard, make the first (and lasting) impression with your potential buyers. Consider this; your online ad is your virtual car yard, so it’s imperative that you treat cars in your online images as you would those in your front row.

Images are a visual representation of the description of your vehicle. With Gumtree you can upload 20 images per vehicle (10 if you’re manually uploading). This allows you to take capture the exterior from many angles, the interior, engine and any key selling points like alloy wheels, sunroof, spoilers etc.

Here are some helpful tips to ensure you’re getting the most out of your images:

• The main image should always be the front three-quarter view
• Capture all sides of the vehicle’s exterior
• Include several images of the interior (dashboard, centre console, seats etc)
• Good lighting – sunny day for outdoor shots or a well-lit showroom for indoor shots
• Make sure the vehicle is clean and looking it’s best
• Avoid “busy” shots, by not having anything in the background.
• Ideal image size is 640×480 pixels and no larger than 3 MB.
