Every few months we send out an online survey asking you to provide feedback on how we’re doing. Your opinions are really important and help us shape our service to you.

In our most recent survey we asked you to share your ‘most unusual sales experience with a customer’ as part of a competition.

We enjoyed hearing your stories and have shared the five winning tales below.

“Advertised a late model LandCruiser on the internet for $80k. Got a phone call 30 minutes later from far north Queensland, I confirmed a few things for him and gave him our bank details, money was in the bank within the next hour and then I did not hear from him for the next 6 months no matter how hard I tried to contact him. Then one day he turned up, he’d decided to hitchhike down to Gippsland and had many adventures getting here including meeting the love of his life. He also bought a top end caravan for the return trip.”

“We had a 62 year old man win $128,000 at the Canberra Casino. He came to the yard the next day, still drunk, and bought 15 cars. and We got to choose which cars. Very good day!”

“A 70+ year old couple came into our dealership interested on a buy they saw. They wanted to do a trade in for the caravan they were interested in. They gave us their phone so we could look at their caravan photos in another room. While flicking through the husband’s phone we noticed that the phone was on a call. Turns out they were listening to our conversation on the value we could get on their van. Long story short, they got that embarrassed we caught them out, and they ended up buying a new caravan from us.”

“We’ll never judge a book by its cover. I had 3 young guys, wearing some really scruffy clothing, no shoes, messy hair, no deodorant and swearing every second word. They asked about the best price of every bike I had as well as every detail. I felt they were ust wasting my time. I said there is no point in me getting you the best prices if you can’t buy them. They then pulled out rolls of $100 notes and said we’ll take those three.”

“Customer told us they get a better deal on Gumtree. Turned out to be our listing on Gumtree. Customer swallowed pride and purchased the vehicle.”
